Mucilago carbomeri FTM-TMF

Mucilago carbomeri is a semi-solid dermatological gel based on a hydrophilic, aqueous matrix in which carbomer acts as a gelling agent. After neutralization, a three-dimensional network forms that fixes water and creates the typical gel structure.

Properties
The gel consists of a continuous aqueous phase and is non-greasy and slightly cooling upon application. Its viscosity is pH-dependent: it increases with the addition of a base (neutralization) and decreases with the addition of an acid.
Preparation typically occurs under vacuum, making the gel virtually free of air bubbles and giving it a homogeneous structure.
